Frankie L. Washington was elected 66th President of the NFD&MA in 2015 at the 80th National Convention in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Frankie, a native of Lillington, North Carolina moved to Dallas, Texas in 1983 to attend the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He graduated in 1984 and obtained both Funeral Director and Embalmers License in 1985. Frankie was employed for many years at Cedar Crest Funeral Home, owned by Walter and Lorraine Wilson.
He began in 1983 as a night duty apprentice, but before leaving the firm in 1991, was proficient in every aspect of funeral service and served as General Manager of Cedar Crest Funeral Homes in Dallas and Plano, Texas. In 1993, to fulfill his dream of owning his own funeral home, he acquired the property at 3910 S. Lancaster Rd. After months of renovation and restoration Paradise Funeral Home was born. Frankie has always been active in the funeral industry and has served 2 consecutive terms as President of the Dallas Local Funeral Directors Association, served as North Texas District President of Independent Funeral Directors Association of Texas. He also serves as Clinical Instructor for the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and was appointed to the Advisory Board for the Dallas Institute for two 3 year terms. Frankie is a proud member of 100 Black Men of Funeral Service, Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, the ROADS, Inc. He also served as Editor of the Scope Magazine of the NFD&MA.
Frankie is married to Barbara, a native of Dallas, TX. They met while he was working at Cedar Crest Funeral Home. They have been married for 29 years. They are blessed with three children; Francesca, Frankie, III and Barri. He is an active member of Pearly Gate Baptist Church where he serves as Deacon, Chairman of Finance and former Minister of Music. He serves as Board President of the Gateway Charter Academy in Dallas, Texas and is a member and past president of Dallas’ prestigious Cotillion Idlewild Club of Dallas.
